Obituary

L. Rose D'Urso Paradiso, 96, passed away August 24, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Linda Allison, with whom she resided since August 2021.  She married Joseph J. Paradiso in Sharon, PA on May 25, 1957 and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1994.

Rose was born to Maria Antonia (Cerro) and Salvatore D'Urso on July 17, 1928 in Masury, Ohio.  She was first generation Italian-American and grew up in Sharon, PA with two sisters, Carmella and Josephine, and one brother, Anthony, all of whom preceded her in death.

In 1946 Rose graduated from Brookfield High School as valedictorian of her class.  After graduation she worked at G.C. Murphy for a short time, then as a secretary at General American Transportation Company before marrying and moving to Tiffin.  She went to work for Stein Insurance then became a stay-at-home mother to three girls.  After raising the girls, Maria, Linda, and Joelle, she took a position at Heidelberg University in the Office of the Dean, working 24 years until she retired.

She is survived by her three daughters and their families: Maria (David) Browne, Linda (Mark) Allison and Joelle (Michael) Willadsen.  She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Meghan (Allison) Rusgrove, Ethan Browne, Lauren (Browne) Snavley, Gabrielle (Willadsen) Rewa, Caroline (Willadsen) Bohner, Marcella (Allison) McIntyre, Melina Allison, Brendan Willadsen, M. Joseph Allison, and Connor Willadsen; and seven great-grandchildren, Michela, Heidi and Stella Rusgrove, James and Ryland Snavley, Amara Rewa, and Emilia Bohner.  She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Carolyn D'Urso, Barbara Paradiso and GiGi Sczesny; brother-in-law, John Sczesny; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be 4:00–7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. with burial immediately following in the family plot at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, Green, Ohio, for their exceptional and gracious end of life care.  They endeared themselves to her and she felt comfort in them and their services.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church for Memorial Masses, Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care, Green, Ohio, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
