LaVernon E. Brubaker, known to most as "Curly", 88, of Winter Haven, Florida, and formerly of Tiffin, passed away at home on Wednesday morning, April 4, 2018.
He was born on February 6, 1930, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Amos and Bessie (Stuckey) Brubaker. On January 5, 1952, he married Betty Beck. They were married 56 years before she preceded him in death on February 3, 2008. On April 17, 2010, he married Adelina Swartz.
Survivors include his wife, Adelina of Florida; son, Steven (Jeri) Brubaker of Port St. Lucie, FL; daughter, Cindy (Doug) Spoon of Sycamore; six grandchildren, Rachel (Tim) Biehler, Lyndsay (Daniel) Herrington, JamiLynn (Chris) Gunn, Eric (Kristy Barney) Spoon, Cory (Danie) Spoon and Jamie (Kaleb Ward) Spoon; 15 great grandchildren; stepsons, Christian Swartz of Findlay and Jason (Lisa) Swartz of NC; stepdaughter, Stephanie Phelps of AZ; five step grandchildren; and sister, Zavonlene "Bonnie" (Duane) Baldwin of Fostoria.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Vincent Brubaker.
Curly graduated in 1948 from Liberty Twp. High School and was a United States Army Veteran. He retired from Whirlpool in Clyde, Ohio and was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria and Lamb of God Lutheran Church in Haines City, FL. Curly enjoyed keeping his lawn looking like a carpet in Ohio, but when he went to Florida, he seemed to really enjoy his time playing Bingo and riding on his "Cadillac" with Addie.
His Funeral Service will be at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-2424 with Pastor Paul Myers officiating. Entombment will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
