Obituary

LaVonne J. Cook-Bivens, 86, of Tiffin, died Friday morning, July 17, 2009, in the Emergency Room at Tiffin Mercy Hospital.

She was born April 20, 1923, in Fostoria to Charles and Estella (Crosby) Lee. She married Ralph 'Red' Jacobs Jr. on September 21, 1941. He was killed in action on September 17, 1944 during WWII. On May 20, 1945 she then married Riley B. Cook and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1977. On November 5, 1983, she married Lewis Bivens and he preceded her in death December 4, 1987.

Survivors include seven children, Judy (Joe) Hartman, Barbara (David) Magers, both of Tiffin, Charles 'Butch' (Carole) Cook of Port Clinton, Monna (Greg) Williams, Eugene Cook, Scott (Stephanie) Cook, Lisa (Kyle) Hall, all of Tiffin, a sister-in-law, Laura Lee of Clyde, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husbands, is a brother, Elwood Lee.

LaVonne was a 1941 graduate of Fostoria High School and a life member of Washington Street United Methodist Church. She worked at the Black Rail Lounge in Tiffin for 18 years. She was an Auxiliary member of VFW 2858 and Tiffin Women of the Moose 846. LaVonne loved to ballroom dance, listen to big band music, sing, play cards, and especially spend time with her kids and grandchildren. She loved her cat, Mocha, and listening to the birds.

Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424, with Rev. Nathan Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family 4-8 PM, Monday, July 20, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, Washington Street United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
