Leila Ruth Walter, 77, passed away Tuesday evening, November 1, 2011 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, OH.
On May 14, 1934, she was born to Lester & Belva (Yeaney) Caylor in Jefferson County, PA. She married Lester E. Walter on October 5, 1951 and he preceded her in death on August 18, 2006.
Survivors include 2 sons; Jim (Paula) Walter of Waynesburg, PA and Bob (Diane) Walter of Fonda, NY; 1 daughter; Sue (Clayton) Hemmerly of New Riegel, OH; 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lester.
Ruth was a member of West Independence United Methodist Church. She worked at J.C. Penney for over twenty years in the catalog department in Tiffin and in Fostoria and she volunteered and was a chaplain for the Seneca Community Chaplain Corporation for five years. She was a Sunday school teacher, enjoyed reading her Bible, and was active in volunteering her time. Ruth was supportive of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was very proud of them. She was loved by all who knew her and was a special lady who always thought of others first. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Her funeral service will be Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 12:00 noon at West Independence United Methodist Church in Fostoria, OH with Pastor James Walter and Pastor Dave Clark officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery in Tiffin.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, November 5, 2011 from 10-12:00 noon at West Independence United Methodist Church in Fostoria, OH.
