LeRoy Junior Heminger, 85, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, February 23, 2008 in the emergency room at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
On September 7, 1922 in Tiffin, he was born to Roy and Amy Gale (Peterson) Heminger. He married Helen Clouse on January 25, 1941; she preceded him in death on December 26, 1961. He later married Susan F. Burkart on September 14, 1996 and she survives.
Other survivors include sons, Ronald (Diane) Heminger of Tiffin; Roger Heminger of Helena, OH; Bobby (Christy) Heminger of Bradenton, FL; daughter, Sharon Comer of Tiffin; step-son, Jeff Neikirk and step-daughter Cheryl Neikirk both of Tiffin; 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen of 20 years, brother, Walter Heminger and sisters, Lillian Huffman and Neva Ranker.
Roy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, served his country in the U.S. Army Infantry during WWII and was a truck driver for O'Connell's for 23 years and worked at Zablocki's Nursery. He will be remembered for his love of music and playing guitar in the Heminger Trio Band for many years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at the church at 9:45 AM.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 from 6-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St. 419-447-2424.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Tiffin Calvert Foundation.
