Loran H. Carroll, 76, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday morning, March 31, 2011 at Valley View Healthcare Center in Fremont.

On October 16, 1934 in Seneca County, he was born to John and Pauline (Gotschall) Carroll. He married Ruth Rakes and they later divorced.

Survivors include 2 sons, Michael (Donna) Carroll of Jacksonville, FL; David (Michele) Carroll of Dallas, TX; 2 daughters, Lori (Michael) Lennhoff of Tiffin; Christine (Todd) Atkin of Woodville; brothers, Bill (Telka) Carroll of Tiffin; Dale (Marion) Carroll of Clyde; sisters, Joann (Daryl) Wing of Clyde; Nancy Miller of Flat Rock, OH; Kate Walters of Everett, WA; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wayne and Al Carroll, sisters, Pauline Bufford, and an infant sister, Janet Carroll.

Loran was honorably discharged as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea from 1951 to 1954. On October 7, 1952 he was wounded and received the Purple Heart and later the Silver Star. Loran lived in Norfolk, VA most of his life, where he enjoyed socializing with his friends. He will be remembered as a generous person, volunteering his time to his friends.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Zion United Church of Christ in Bettsville at 11:00 am with Pastor Gary Adams officiating. Burial will take place with military honors at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
