Obituary

Louis B. "suckin' Louie" Borer, 86, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, April 28, 2024 at St. Francis Home where he resided the past seven years.

On June 26, 1937 in Medora, Indiana; he was born to Bernard L. and Frances C. (Fleck) Borer.  He married Barbara E. Michaels on July 31, 1965 and she survives in Tiffin. Theirs was a love story like no other. They were together for 76 years.

Other survivors include his sons; Stephen G. Borer (Marlene Parker) of Powell and Anthony J. (Kelly) Borer of Columbus; daughters, Theresa M. (Matthew) Dysard of Tiffin and Angela R. (Brian) Meek of Broadview Heights; sister, Dianne Moehrman of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Sebastian (Mariah) Borer, Gavin and Jaidyn Borer, Ella and Lilly Dysard, Adler and Evelyn Meek, Matthew Fields and Kyle Stewart, four great grandchildren and a fifth expected in June.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Leonard Paul Borer and infant sister Carolyn Borer, sisters Joey Borer and Marilyn Lucius.

Louie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a Eucharistic Minister to shut ins, and groundskeeper for 17 years.  He graduated in 1955 from Tiffin Calvert. He later joined the U.S. Army from 1959-1962, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. He traveled extensively throughout Europe and always shared hilarious stories with family, friends, and anyone who would listen.  He retired from Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria in 1993 after 25 years.  Louie enjoyed all types of sports and especially loved The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed reading, playing golf, classic car shows and watching WWE wrestling weekly.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St.  Louie's favorite color was red.  The family asks you to please wear something red for the visitation.
