Louis F. Lucius, 92, of New Riegel, passed away on Tuesday morning, January 25, 2022 at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital.
He was born on April 14, 1929, in Fostoria, Ohio, to Frank and Clara (Reinhart) Lucius. On June 23, 1951, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, he married Mildred R. "Milly" Kramer and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2017.
Survivors include his children, Steve (Kris) Lucius of Findlay, Tom (Karen) Lucius of Tiffin, Don (Mary) Lucius of Tiffin and Connie (Gene) Hursey of New Riegel; brother, Francis (Susie) Lucius of New Riegel; sisters, Eileen Kurtz of Bloomville, Marjorie Sowers of Sycamore and Alma (Marion) Lucius of New Riegel; eight grandchildren, Khara Pasternak, Brett Lucius, Kevin Lucius, Andrea Lucius, Brianna Lucius, Aaron Lucius, Andy Salyers and Kelly Tibbits; and seven great grandchildren, Oliver Pasternak, Graham Lucius, Jack Dunbar, Walker Salyers, Elliot Lucius, Drew Lucius and Gatlin Tibbits. .
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard Lucius, Paul Lucius and Gerald Lucius; and sisters, Dorothy Clouse and Lucille Smith.
Louis was a 1947 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School and retired from General Electric after 38 years. He worked for the Village of New Riegel for 30 years, 19 as clerk and 11 as councilman. Louis was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel and the New Riegel Moose #872. He enjoyed growing up on the family farm, playing cards, traveling, especially trips to the Amish Country, Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg, tinkering and fixing things up, and watching and attending sporting events. Louis was always smiling and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
His Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating and will be livestreamed at allsaints-parish.com. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass on Saturday at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Riegel EMS or to All Saints Parish.
