Luella B. Hammer, 85, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday evening, August 8, 2013 at her home.

She was born on April 21, 1928, in Rollersville, OH, to Marion and Chloe (Swartz) Kern. On March 15, 1948, in Angola, IN, she married Ralph E. Hammer and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2012.

Survivors include 3 sons, Butch (Barb) Hammer of rural Tiffin, Ralph (Choe) Hammer of Tucson, AZ and Gary (Mary) Hammer of Vail, AZ; daughter, Lois Shultz of Risingsun; seven grandchildren, Mark and Lisa Hammer, Joseph Hammer, Gary Hammer, II, Doug Shultz, Fred Hammer and Angela DuBois; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Albert Kern, of FL, Edward Kern of TN, and Gerald Kern of Gibsonburg, OH; 4 sisters, Lily Sterling of Gibsonburg, OH, Jean Barenbrugge of Millbury, OH, Joy Hunt of Gibsonburg, OH and Madge Thompson of TN.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Joseph James Hammer; grandson, Jeffrey Shultz; 3 brothers, Francis, Lloyd and Raymond Kern; and 3 sisters, Iona Hathaway, Ruth Aldrich and infant, Nelly Vera Kern.

Luella was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and attended Woodville High School. She helped with busing at the Seneca County School of Opportunity and enjoyed canning, being a housewife and doing things together with her husband.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Bascom with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 5-8:00 P.M. on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 8:00 P.M.
