Lyle H. Kneeskern, 81, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, February 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born to Howard and Doris (Smith) Kneeskern on July 30, 1934 in Bridgeport, NY. He married Eileen M. White on August 20, 1960 and she survives in Tiffin.
Also surviving are his children; Grant (Judy) Kneeskern and Scott (Andrea) Kneeskern both of Tiffin; Beth (Darrell) Magrum of Tiffin; Loreen (Brad) Morris of Lexington, NC; sisters, Janice Clark of Rome, NY; Linda Wells of North Syracuse, NY; eight grandchildren, Brett and Mitchell Kneeskern, Tyler, Derek and Deker Kneeskern, Austin and Kayla Magrum, Garrett Schling; five step-grandchildren, Ryan Magrum, Abbey Link, Alexa Six, Jacob and Justin Schling and his dog, Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Jennifer L. Kneeskern on February 9, 2012.
Lyle graduated from Canastota High School in New York, class of 1952 and from the DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He was a member of the Army National Guard where he obtained the rank of Platoon Sergeant E-7 and later, he and Eileen moved their family to Tiffin in 1968. Lyle worked for Continental Cablevision for 24 years. He retired as Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Ohio in 1992. He started farming the area in 1981. He was also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Tiffin Farmers Co-op, Clinton Township Zoning Board and was a licensed pilot. He enjoyed flying RC planes and traveling the country in his RV.
Lyle was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also a philanthropist and a very caring and giving person. Lyle was mechanically inclined and had a knack of being able to fix anything.
A Memorial service will be Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Rick Dorsch officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at Trinity United Church of Christ and later a burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 2-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, the Parkinson Foundation of Northwest Ohio, or to a charity of the donor's choice
