Obituary

Margaret (Goodhart) Murray, daughter of Ronald and Rose Marie (Weinhart) Goodhart, was with us for 69 short years. A wife for 45 years, a mother for 39, and a teacher for 30, Margaret was a woman of deep and abiding faith, who could recite the Apostles creed and nearly every song in the Lutheran hymnal by heart. She was also a voracious reader who loved crime shows, Hugo's milkshakes, and Vera Bradley purses.

For decades she was a survivor. From Cushing's syndrome to pancreatitis to sepsis and cancer, she fought the good fight, and had the battle scars to prove it. Margaret was a leader in her church, in her classroom, and in the courtroom where she served as an advocate for children. She was raised in the rolling hills of Northeast Ohio, and then landed in the flat lands of Northwest Ohio, finding the only hill in the entire town of Tiffin and calling the house at the top of it her own. Fiercely stubborn and set in her ways, but grounded always in the golden rule, Margaret was one of the good guys.

She was an excellent teacher, but said time and time again that the best job she ever had - the reason she believed God put her here on earth - was to be a mom. She believed that her girls should be able to do anything, and that being good at science and math were their tickets to a bright future. She taught them to work hard and live with integrity, and the importance of gratitude, patience and perseverance. Margaret was brave and smart, kind and strong. Over the past four years, despite the strength of her spirit and the best efforts of a far-reaching medical team, her body continued to grow weaker and weaker. In the wee hours of the morning on January 18, 2017, she finally left her body behind.

Margaret no doubt ran with joy to meet her parents, who preceded her in death, at Heaven's pearly gates. She is survived by her husband, David Murray; sister Janice Workman; daughters Megan and Allison; and grandsons Alex, Ethan, Owen, and Emerson.
