Obituary

Marguerite E. Rider, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Monday evening, November 7, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family.

On July 6, 1923, in Liberty Twp., she was born to George & Josephine (Sendelbach) Sorg. She married William "Bill" A. Rider on July 4, 1942.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; 3 daughters, Janet (Daniel J.) Stein of Avon, OH, Patricia (James) Gaver of Grand Blanc, MI, and Nancy (Richard) Warnement of Charlotte, NC; 9 Grandchildren, Christine Stein, Amy Stein, Melanie Strickler, Jeffrey Gaver, Lisa Gaver, Matthew Gaver, Andrew Warnement, Brent Warnement and Craig Warnement; and 8 Great Grandchildren, Maxwell, Lily, Jason, Kinsey, Bradley, Isabelle, Allison and Emily.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene & Paul Sorg; and sister, Geraldine Scherger.

Marguerite graduated from Bettsville High School and from the Beauty School of Toledo. She worked for the Seneca County Board of Elections and was a committeeman for the 4th Ward. She worked at Uhlman's Dept. Store and various other department stores. Marguerite volunteered at St. Joseph School Library, Betty Jane Center, Seneca County School of Opportunity Center, the gift shop at Mercy Hospital, United Commercial
Travelers and Girl Scouts at St. Joseph School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society and the Josephine's and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Marguerite and her husband sold Christmas bows for Community Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will be Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419)447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 8:00 P.M.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
