Obituary

Marion E. Desgrange, 80, of Tiffin, passed away Thursday morning, September 6, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 8, 1932, in Pleasant Bend, Ohio, to Chester and Goldie May (Ordway) Desgranges. On February 11, 1956, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, he married Chadyne F. Goshe. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2008.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorene Hoyda of Tiffin; 2 brothers, Gerald Desgranges of Iowa, Leroy (Carolyn) Desgranges of Tennessee; 1 sister, Jacqueline (Bill) Hilt of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Laura (Justin) Miller, Kevin (Shauna Impresert) Schumm, both of Columbus, and Stephanie Hodya-Healy of Tiffin; and 3 great grandchildren, Leslie Marie, Alexis Ann and Luke Joseph Marion Healy.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Debra (George) Schumm; one brother, Gene Desgranges; and 3 sisters, Wilma Ebersole, Susie Clemons and Bina Mock.

Marion was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served in the Korean War, in the United States Army, from January 30, 1952 to January 11, 1955. He worked at National Machinery for 40 years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a remote control helicopter enthusiast and customized his own computers. He enjoyed taking many movies of friends and family with his video camera. Marion also enjoyed tinkering on cars and taking care of his home. Marion enjoyed traveling, which began in the Army and continued throughout his marriage and later years. He loved planting and caring for his annual spring flowers. Most of all, Marion loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. Members of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club will meet in body at 7:00 P.M. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 7:45 P.M.
