Marion Eugene Smith, 87, of Bradenton, Fl and Tiffin, OH, passed away Friday afternoon, July 24, 2026, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton.

On January 07, 1939 in Tiffin. Ohio, Marion was born to Arthur F. and Belva L. (Hughes) Smith. He married Mary Ann “Ann” (Klopp ), August 01, 1959.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ann of Bradenton; 3 Sons, Scott Smith of Charlotte, NC ; Eric (Shirley) Smith and Kurt (Lauren) Smith, both of Tiffin; Grandchildren; Lindsey (Smith) Stine of Tiffin, Cassandra (Cassie) Smith of Roanoke, VA, Krista (Smith) Blaser of Tiffin, Lauren Smith & Blake Smith of Maiden, NC . Great grandchildren; Macie & Austin Stine, Addison Morano, Jace, Milly, & Risci all of Tiffin, Avril Lail of Maiden, NC and a sister, Janice (William) Dell of Ahwatukee, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles F. Smith and daughter in law, Margaret “Meg” Smith.

Marion was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin and Bradenton. He graduated in1957 from Tiffin Calvert and enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving in Korea, two of the three years. His career began at National Machinery, then Tiffin Metal Products, and Seneca Environmental Products. He earned an associate's degree in business from Tiffin University. He formed the BMD Workbench, in 1981 with his two sons, Eric and Kurt. After moving to Bradenton, FL, he worked at Publix Supermarkets for 17 years, before retiring in August 2025 at the age of 86.

Marion served as Scoutmaster of St. Joseph’s Troop #444 , and as a district council member for the former Put-Han-Sen Area Council, BSA, Findlay, Ohio. He received the Silver Beaver Award. He was very active in the Tiffin Lions Club, and the Bradenton Lions club, serving as President and Secretary for both, for many years. He especially enjoyed participating in vision screening of students in the Manatee County Schools in Bradenton. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow.

Marion and Ann hosted six exchange students, having traveled to Australia, Malaysia, and many countries in Europe, being cordially welcomed into their homes.

His mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 07, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit and share stories at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, August 06, 2026 from 4-7 PM. Memorials may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, Tiffin Lions Club, or Charity of choice.
