Marjorie Jean Granata (Gam Gam), 84, of Tiffin, passed away on Friday morning, March 7, 2014 , at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, surrounded by her loving family. On July 18, 1929, she was born in Tiffin to Harvey and Pearl (Craver) Deppen. On August 11, 1951 she married Gordon Joseph Granata at St. Mary Catholic Church in Tiffin. Survivors include a son, Tim (Ulrike) Granata of Luzern, Switzerland; three daughters, Julie (Daryl) Shellhouse of Sycamore, Jennifer (Rodney) Althaus of Port Clinton and Jean (Jerry Esparza) Hays of Tiffin. She has four grandchildren, Kayla (Dane) Jessee, Stephanie (Matt) Miner, Kelly Althaus and Elke Zika-Granata. She has three great-grandchildren, Olivia Althaus, Kane Jessee, and Jason Miner. She is also survived by two nieces, Marilyn (Walter) Lewinski and Nancy (Walter) Steinmetz and four nephews, Mark and Steve Leahy and Larry and Kevin McGinnis. Preceding her in death along with her parents are her husband, Gordon Joseph Granata; grandson, Dominic Joseph Hays; three sisters, Geraldine Walter, Pauline (Pud) Leahy, and Beatrice Deppen; a nephew, Raymond McGinnis; and a niece, Mary Catherine McGinnis. Marjorie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and she loved to bake and sew. She loved to sing and was a member of the Tiffin Community Women's Choir in the 1970's. She loved working in the garden and taking care of her flowers and reading. She loved spending time with her family and friends playing cards and socializing. She worked many jobs during her lifetime, but the best job she held was as a devoted wife and loving mother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419)-447-2424. A Christian Wake service will be at 1:30 P.M. Memorial contributions can be made to Community Hospice Care, St. Mary Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
