Obituary

Mark Nicholas Smith, 22, of Tiffin, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, November 21, 2012 in the Emergency Room at Fostoria Community Hospital.

On August 21, 1990 in Tiffin, he was born to Dennis and Rose (Doepker) Smith.

Surviving are his parents; brothers, Anthony (Katie) Smith of Tiffin; Rev. Philip Smith of Toledo; Paul (Faye) Smith of Toledo; Stephen and Michael Smith both of Tiffin; grandmother, Elizabeth Doepker of Tiffin; grandfather, Ralph Smith of Tiffin; nephew, Andrew Smith and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Doepker and grandmother, Lucille Smith.

Mark was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; where he served as an Altar Server, attended St. Joseph grade school and graduated from Tiffin Calvert and Sentinel Career Center in Food Service in 2010. He enjoyed playing basketball and running track for the Seneca Arrows and was a member of the Tiffin Calvert Soccer Team, holding the school record for the most goals scored in a single game. Mark was an enthusiastic supporter of Tiffin Calvert Athletics and Heidelberg Football. He worked for Seneca Re-Ad Industries at the Fostoria Division and was a volunteer at St. Francis Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with his brother Rev. Philip Smith and Rev. Joseph Szybka con-celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass.

Friends may visit on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. A Wake service will begin at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin Calvert High School Kairos Retreat or the Seneca County Opportunity Center Athletics.
