Mark W. Tyree, 51 of Tiffin, died Monday morning, September 14, 2009 surrounded by his family after a 3 A½ year battle with Leukemia.
On August 13, 1958 in Tiffin he was born to Harold W. and Glenna (Hickman) Tyree. He married Connie Betz on August 6, 1988.
Survivors include his wife Connie, of 21 years, his mother, Glenna Tyree of Tiffin; son, Josh Tyree of Toledo; daughter Elisha (Chad) Ramirez of Tiffin; brothers, Michael W. Tyree, Marty R. (Ta-ah) Tyree and Mitch R. (Kolenia) Tyree all of Tiffin; sister, Linda E. (Darrin) Holman of Fostoria; and grandsons, Brendon Blott and Jace Tyree.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold in 2001.
Mark was a 1977 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, served in the U.S. Army from 1977-1979 and attended Washington Street United Methodist Church. He drove truck for many years, working for Hall Trucking in Findlay and later working at Sarka Sheet Metal from 1990-2007 as a fabricator. Mark had a passion for cars and racing. He built his own race car and raced in Bristol, TN, Richmond, VA and locally at Norwalk. His talent awarded him many trophies for his hard work. Mark was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed weekends at the tracks camping and racing with his grandsons as his crew chiefs and spending time with his racing family the "Ford Fanatic Racers".
Three and a half years ago, Mark was diagnosed with Leukemia. He was determined to keep fighting even after 2 bone marrow transplants.
A service will be Thursday, September 17, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Washington Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Nathan Howe officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery (Egbert's) with military honors conducted by the United Veteran's Council.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 from 2-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10-11 AM at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to FACT, Community Hospice Care, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Northern Ohio Chapter or Tiffin Moose Lodge #846.
