Obituary

Martha E. Alspach, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, February 17, 2017 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
She was born on December 7, 1927, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Jerome and Agnes (Smith) Benner. On August 8, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married Clifton C. Alspach and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2006.
Survivors include daughter, Kathleen (Lee) Stephens of Tiffin; son Gregory E. Alspach of Brighton, MI; brother, Gerald Benner of KY; sister, Margaret Sartor of Canton, MI; four grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is son, Clifton Charles Alspach II, her parents; brothers, Norman, Alfred and Howard; and sisters, Aline Mayer, Bernita Kemp and Mildred Picchocki and her dearest friend Don Zeis.
Martha (Marty) started work at the age of 14 for the Tiffin Bake Shop where she baked wonderful treats for over 16 years. Marty was a busy housewife, raising her 3 children and working at Data Documents, General Electric (15 years) and as a baker and cook at St. Francis Convent.
She enjoyed tending her flowers and vegetable garden, creating flower arrangements, playing cards and talking with friends over coffee and she had a special stash of candy for the neighbor children who brought her drawings that she kept to show friends.
On Friday, February 24 , 2017 there will be a visitation with family at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.
