Martha Jean Kagy, 95, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday morning, March 27, 2017 at Elmwood at the Shawhan.

She was born on September 4, 1921, in Pleasant Township to N. Daniel "Dan" and Ida (Loose) Egbert.  On November 6, 1941, in Bloomvile, she married Gilbert Kagy.  They had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2006 and Gilbert passed away on April 11, 2007.

She is survived by three children, Susan (Robert) Sponseller of Tiffin, Jack (Teresa) Kagy of Tiffin and Julie (Terry) Kagy-Cannan of Raleigh, NC.  She also leaves five grandchildren, Stacie (Bruce) Myers, Brent (Lisa) Kagy, Jennifer (Benjamin) McDonald, Mitch (Kaitlyn) Kagy and Catherine Cannan and one step-grandchild, Michael (Kim) Sponseller.  She also leaves six great grandchildren, two-step great grandchildren and two step great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Margery Goller and Catherine Yeager; brothers, Norman Egbert, Homer Egbert; and great granddaughter, Courtney Myers.

Martha graduated, as did her husband, from Bloomville High School in 1938.  She was first employed as a linotype operator for the Bloomville Gazette, then as a medical records librarian at Bucyrus Community Hospital.  She retired from the former Ohio Job Services Office in Bucyrus.  Martha enjoyed accompanying her husband when his employment took him temporarily to Arizona and on other travels.

At the time of her death, she was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and had attended other churches and activities where she resided.  She also enjoyed time with her family, reading and sewing.

A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424 with Rev. Jeff Lanzer officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 3-7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Funeral Home.
