Mary Frances Abbott, 100, of Marblehead, and formerly of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday afternoon, April 22, 2015 at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Community in Marblehead.
She was born on September 26, 1914, in Van Wert County, to John Clarence and Celia Jane (Clay) Roller. On October 22, 1938, she married Mark Abbott and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1979.
Survivors include her three sons, Jon M. (Marcia) Abbott of Old Fort, Jim L. (Shirley) Abbott of Red Rock, TX and Don C. Abbott of Largo, FL; two daughters, Jean M. (Mike) Lonsway of Marblehead and Linda K. (Jeff) Barchie of St. Petersburg, FL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great, great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Ralph Roller and John Roller; and seven sisters, Florence Benhower, Edythe Harris, Grace Point, Cora Belle Eutsler, Irene Lutz, Arlene Matson and Flora Maple.
Mary graduated from York High School in Van Wert County, moved to Old Fort and then Tiffin. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society and Allen Eiry Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling the world, visiting Europe, U.S.S.R. and Israel. Mary was a Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians and an OSU football fan and enjoyed reading mysteries. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and moved to Marblehead three years ago to be close to her family.
A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Faith United Methodist Church.
Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers. memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, Kiwanis Manor Activities Fund or the Allen Eiry Center.
