Mary S. Brickner, 93, of Fostoria, passed away on Sunday afternoon, October 11, 2015 at Independence House in Fostoria.
She was born on May 11, 1922, in Wyandot County, to Albert J. and Alice (Phillips) Kummerer. On June 20, 1945, she married Arthur J. Brickner and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Dwight (Deb) Brickner of Fostoria; three daughters, Yvonne (Don) Schafer of Bloomville, Phyllis (Jim) Hossler of Fostoria and Lynn (John) Dewald of Tiffin; sister, Dorothy (Ray) Saalman of Fostoria; 12 grandchildren, Renee Adams, Jennifer Brickner, Craig Brickner, Suzanne Kingsborough, Ken Hossler, Kevin Hossler, Lee Dewald, Jim Diller, David Diller, James Hossler, Noah Hossler and Jordan Hossler; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Shirley Diller and infant daughter, Theresa Brickner; three brothers, Cletus, Merle and Donald Kummerer; and grandson, John Diller.
Mary graduated from Jackson-Liberty in Amsden, was a member of SS Patrick and Andrew Church, Liberty Twp. and their Rosary Alter Society. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, polka dancing, going out to dinner, fishing, bowling, playing cards with the neighbors and spending time at Lake Erie with her family. Mary enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she was a loving mother and friend to many.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at SS Patrick and Andrew Church, Liberty Twp., with Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Wake Service will begin at 3:30 P.M.
Memorial contributions may be made to SS Patrick and Andrew Church, Liberty Twp., the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.
