Mary Catherine "Kay" Ranker, 63, of Tiffin, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday evening, April 4, 2012 at her home.

On December 12, 1948 in Tiffin, she was born to Charles and Sylvia (Funk) Sauber. She married Joseph L. Ranker on December 11, 1971.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joe; a Son and daughter in law, Joe and Natalie (Huss) Ranker of Tiffin; a daughter and son in law, Angela and Shawn "Barney" Barnhart and their children, Taylor and Shawna all of Tiffin; twin brother Joseph and Donna Sauber, brother George and Linda Sauber both of Tiffin; sister-in-laws, Sylvia (Bill) Gibson, Virginia Richardson and Dolores Ranker; step-sister Gretchen Bartley of Tiffin and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her father, Charles Sauber; mother, Sylvia Koepfer, step father, Paul Koepfer and step mother, Irene Sauber, brother James Sauber in 1999 a niece, Dawn Sauber in 1988; and brother-in-law, Thomas Ranker.

Kay's life was her two grandchildren, Taylor and Shawna. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them and was at every sporting event they participated in. She graduated from Hopewell Loudon High School in 1967 and worked at Hanson's, the Black Rail Lounge, General Electric for many years and American Standard. She owned Kay's Dairy Bar and Restaurant for 13 years, ran for Seneca County Commissioner and later retiring. She wintered in Florida, enjoyed attending auctions, mushroom hunting, fishing, collecting Black Glass and yearly trips to Las Vegas. Kay was an inspiration to everyone and enjoyed life to the fullest. She will be sadly missed.

There will be no services or visitation at this time.
