(Stefanelli) Eichhorn
December 8, 1933 – July 13, 2025
Mary Immaculata Eichhorn, 91 of Tiffin, completed her life on earth Sunday morning, July 13, 2025 at St. Francis Home.
She was born December 8, 1933 in Tiffin to Vincent and Mary Angela (Durso), Italian immigrants of "little Italy". She married John Leo Eichhorn October 16, 1954 in St. Mary's Church in Tiffin. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2020.
Survivors include: a daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Ferkovic of Highland Hts. OH and a son, Thomas (Teri) Eichhorn of Beavercreek OH. 6 grandchildren, Dr. Carol (Eric) Mack of University Hts. OH, Michael (Julie) Ferkovic of Shaker Hts. OH, Crista (Alex) Osterhage and Tyler (Jessica) Eichhorn of Beavercreek OH, Rachel (Stefanie) Keenan-Wurm of Louisville KY, and Andrea Wurm of Columbus, OH, and 2 great granddaughters Elena and Gabriella. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Joseph Stefanelli of Pemberville OH and Eugene Stefanelli of Henderson. NV.
Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter, Carol Marie Wurm, a brother Nazaro Stefanelli, a sister, Assunta (Susie) Kurtz, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Nancy Eichhorn, sister in laws Janet Stefanelli and Carol Stefanelli.
A graduate of Calvert High School, Class of 1951, and of Mercy School of Nursing 1954, Mary was known for her life of service and volunteering whether it was for her nursing profession or organizations. As a nurse she had years of service at Mercy Hospital, the offices of Drs. Lupica, Pagarigan, and also Dr. Watkins. After retirement from Tiffin Developmental Center as a Nursing Supervisor, she substituted in the nursing dept. at School of Opportunity. She had totaled over 50 years of nursing service.
Mary had been a Brownie Leader, Girl Scout leader, and served as a board member of the Calvert Alumni Assoc., St. Mary's School Board, Allen Airy Senior Center Board and St. Francis Home Auxiliary Board. She had been a member of the Catholic Nurses Assoc. and Professional Nurses Assoc., Former Lady Knights of the K of C, Serra Club of Tiffin and volunteered with the Red Cross blood mobile for many years, and with other various organizations including those of St. Mary's Church.
She was known for her cooking and baking, especially cookies, and as an Italian custom, one never left her house hungry. She and John loved to travel and find new and different things to do and were always together. They wintered in Florida for several years with friends. When either were on a committee the other was there helping.
Her family was always first but she also found time for her personal activities, such as her flower garden, reading, sports, crafting, and involvement with her former high school and nursing school classmates.
Her Mass of Christian burial will Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 1:00 PM at. St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. The rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Mary Rec Room.
Friends may visit and share stories on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 10:30-12:30 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvert Catholic Schools, Allen Eiry Senior Center or a charity of the donor's choice.
The family wishes to thank St. Francis Senior Ministries, especially all of the staff of the Chiara Unit.
