Matthew Gerard Smith, 54, of Tiffin passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015.

He was born on September 11, 1960, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Frederick Charles and Mary Elizabeth (Scholl) Smith.

Survivors include his parents, Frederick and Mary; his wife, Jean (Ranard) Smith, of Tiffin, together until 2013; brother, Fred (Susan) Smith of Tiffin; four sisters, Frieda (Dean) Cooley of Tiffin, Elizabeth (Joel) Leslie of Morral, Andrea (Larry) Frankart of Republic and Kelly (Dennis) Hoerig of Tiffin; four step-children, Kim Rinebold, Aaron Blizzard, Nathan Blizzard and Lovalee Blevins; 12 step-grandchildren; 10 nieces and nephews; and 5 great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a great nephew, Luke.

Matthew graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1978 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a self-employed carpenter and owned Matt Smith Painting and Wallpapering for years. Matthew enjoyed fishing, camping, and golf and he loved his dog, Dusty.

A private family memorial service will be held and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
