Maxine J. Zoeller, 89, of Tiffin, passed away, Tuesday morning, July 24, 2012, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
She was born on April 22, 1923, to Jacob A. and Blanche (Berger) Bollinger. She married Elmer R. Zoeller in St. Joseph Church by Monsignor Richard Gabel on July 8, 1944 and was married close to 59 years, before his death on May 12, 2003.
She is survived by two daughters Sue Ann Stephens and Rita (Tom) Loesser, both of Tiffin; one son, Fred (Louise) Zoeller, of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Michael Stephens and Mark (Denise) Stephens, both of Tiffin and Sherri (Tony) Schumm of Radnor and Christopher Zoeller of Tiffin; 8 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren; two sisters, Madelyn Breidenbach and Yvonne "Bonnie" Steinmetz, both of Tiffin.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Elmer; son-in-law, Larry Stephens; and a sister, Joyce Stetler.
Maxine was a graduate of the 1941 class of Attica High School and she attended many gatherings with her former classmates through the years. She put together, with the help of classmates and their families, a class biography which took almost a year, to be able to present to the class when they celebrated their 60th class reunion.
Mrs. Zoeller worked 29 happy and fun filled years as a supervisor in the dietary department at the Tiffin Developmental Center. She always had a lot of compassion for the residents when she worked there until 1989.
After retirement she worked 19 years at St. Joseph School cafeteria as a volunteer. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, the Lady Eagles Auxiliary, Tiffin Moose Chapter 100, Daughters of Isabella Circle #382 and was their scribe for many years. Other originations include, Catholic Knights of Ohio, St. Francis Home Auxiliary, Allen Eiry Senior Center, Public Employees Retirement Seneca Chapter #37, The Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W., a member of The Lady of Fatima Mothers Study Club for more than 50 years and she and her husband were in a euchre card club for over 55 years. She also worked on the election board as a poll volunteer.
She did the bookkeeping for her husband's construction business for 50 years too. She enjoyed playing Pinochle and Euchre and was in various clubs involving cards. She enjoyed traveling and going with family and friends. She liked attending sporting events which included her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always supportive of her family and wanted to just be a good mom and grandma.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake service will begin at 8:00 P.M. with Br. Maurus Zoeller, OSB, brother-in-law of Maxine's, officiating.
