Merle Deloyd "Butch" Hammer, 78, of Plymouth and previously of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday, January 01, 2026 at Arbors at Mifflin, Mansfield.
He was born on January 04, 1947, in Fremont, Ohio, to Ralph E. and Luella B. (Kern) Hammer.
Survivors include his son, Mark (Mary "Darla") Hammer of Phenix City, AL; daughter, Lisa Hammer of Plymouth; girlfriend, Darlene Militello of Rochester, NY; brothers, Ralph Hammer of Prescott Valley, AZ and Gary (Mary) Hammer of Vail, AZ; sister, Lois Schultz of Rising Sun; six grandchildren; Yvonne (Steven) Presson, Bryan Padilla, Edmund Gonzales, Mickaela Hammer, Addison Sexton (and her father George Sexton) and Mason Martin; and two great grandchildren, Reganne Presson and Emilio Gonzales.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Joseph James Hammer; brother-in-law, Tom Schultz; and sister-in-law, Choe Hammer.
Butch was a 1965 graduate of Lakota High School. He served in the United States Army from November 29, 1968 to August 19, 1971. He worked as a QC at Atlas Crankshaft and plant manager at Wollin Products and Progress Plastics. Butch enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader, woodworking, camping and spending time with his family.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 08, 2026 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. Military Honors will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date.
