Obituary

Michael A. "Mike" Burd, 80, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday morning, December 04, 2025 at the Willows at Tiffin.

He was born on July 29, 1945, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Robert E. and Helen Bernice (Scherger) Burd.  On July 10, 1970, he married Irene Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Burd of Tiffin; son, Brett (Michelle) Burd of Republic; daughter, Michelle (Shawn) Collene of Tiffin; brothers, Robert (Nancy) Burd, II of Milford, DE, Gerald (Patricia) Burd of New Braunfels, TX and David Burd of Fremont; sister-in-law, Julie Burd of Tucson; four grandchildren, Grant Burd, Spencer Burd, Chance Collene and Elsyann Collene; three step grandchildren, Cheyenne Love, Dallas Neff and Bailey Dillinger; and 10 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven Burd.

Mike graduated in 1963 from Bettsville High School and attended Bowling Green State University.  He served in the United States Army from 1967 -1969.  He started his career off at Basic Refractories for 13 years and then worked at Whirlpool in Findlay, retiring after 25 years.  Mike was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, AmVets Post 48, American Legion #169 and the Seneca County United Veterans Council where he served on the Honor Guard for Military Funerals for many years.  He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events, golfing, camping, vacationing, bus trips, attending county fairs, watching OSU and the Cleveland Indians and could fix anything.

His Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 09, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Anthony Coci officiating.  A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7:00 P.M. on Monday, December 08, 2025 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, a local Veteran's organization or to a charity of the donor's choice.
