Michael J. "Mike" Dysard, 66, of Tiffin, died Saturday morning, October 24, 2009 at his home.
On September 6, 1943 in Tiffin, he was born to John and Helen (Ewald) Dysard. He married Leslie D. Braman on October 1, 1966 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on July 25, 1996.
Survivors include his Lifelong friend and Companion, Joan Ruby of Perrysburg; daughter, Danielle A. (Tom) Coats of Toledo; son, Matt D. (Theresa) Dysard and their children, Ella and Lilly all of Tiffin; brother, David R. (Nancy) Dysard of Toledo; and a sister, Judy A. (Skip) Beebe of Perrysburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 29 years, Leslie and a son, Paul A. Dysard on September 4, 1980.
Mike was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1961 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. He graduated from the University of Toledo and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1967. Mike spent 8 years honoring his country in Mississippi, Florida and while in Italy, he received his masters degree from Wayne State University, before being honorably discharged from active duty as a Captain in 1974. Upon returning to Tiffin in 1974, he has farmed the Herbert Ewald Family Farm, LLC, raising cattle.
He enjoyed camping, gardening, decorating for and celebrating holidays, traveling and cruises, visiting 55 countries and every state except Alaska. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization and Cub Scout Leader.
Mike was a member of the BPOE, Tiffin Lodge #94, past Exalted Ruler and Trustee and volunteered many hours at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky and at Christmas time with Community Hospice Care. He was also Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and Activity Chairman for the Northwest District of the Elks. He served on the Advisory Council and was a chairperson for the National Services and Visitation Committees.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:40 AM at the church.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home. A memorial service conducted by the Tiffin Elks Lodge #94 will be at 8:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or Calvert Athletic Boosters.
