Pastor Michael Duane Sassanella, 62, of Tiffin, passed away on Thursday evening, September 29, 2016 at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

He was born on November 25, 1953, in Garrett, IN to Jack Duane and Lois Louise (Swift) Sassanella. On June 29, 2013, he married Cindra Kay Gibson.

Survivors include his wife, Cindra Kay of Tiffin; four sons, Jeremy Michael (Kate) Sassanella of Indianapolis, IN, Joshua Jeffery (Sara) Sassanella of New York City, NY, Justin Roger (Tiffany) of Branson, MO and Jonathon David (Joslyn) Sassanella of Garrett, IN; stepdaughter, Alissa (Erick) Schuetz of Aurora; brother, David Joe Sassanella of Valparaiso, IN; sisters, Joyce Louise (Bob) Harris of Fremont, IN and Debra Kay Sassanella of Firestone, CO; grandchildren, Jordan, Jackson, Jilly, Eli, Lyric, and Alivia Sassanella; and step grandchildren, Aiden Schuetz and Lila Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Michael graduated in 1972 from Prairie Heights High School in Indiana, and attended Indiana Tech for Business as well as Seminary at Huntington University in Indiana. He worked at Dana Corporation for 22 years in purchasing and sales and marketing, a Pastor at Victory Baptist Church in Waterloo, IN for 17 years, and most recently at Steyer Seeds in sales and marketing. Michael was the Pastor at Fort Seneca Independent Church, formerly Fort Seneca United Church of Christ for the past few years. He enjoyed coaching baseball for little league and high school and was a member of the Lions Club. In July of this year, Michael attended his own Memorial Service for family and friends in Indiana.

Michael was a great Pastor of his flock, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone. He will be remembered as a humble and caring man who put others first.

His celebration of life will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 Fort Seneca Independent Church, 5660 N. St. Rt. 53, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 with Rev. Russell Heppler officiating. A luncheon will follow at Steyer Seeds, 6101 N. CR 33, Tiffin, OH 44883.

Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the Service on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the church.
