Obituary

Mildred D. Reid, 92, formerly of New Riegel, slipped away Monday morning, February 22, 2010 at St. Francis Home in Tiffin.

On January 4, 1918, she was born in Cleveland, OH. She married Carl J. Bentz on November 2, 1940 in Tiffin. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1955. On February 25, 1961 in Tiffin, she married C. Willard "Bill" Reid. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1995.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Ellen Bentz and Karen Amlin both of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Laura Walters, Brian Kessler, Kristine Wise, and Domenic Bentz; 5 great grandchildren, Nathan Kessler, Brandon and Morgan Walters, and Kory and Karissa Wise; nieces, Carol (Garry) Phelps and Diana Robinson; nephew, Edward (Saundra) Jones and a daughter in law, Nancy Bentz of Sycamore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Carl and Bill and a son, Michael C. Bentz on February 10, 1998.

Mildred was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Ruth Circle at the church and was a press operator at General Electric for over 10 years. She was a member of New Riegel Moose Lodge # 872 and GEWOTS. Mildred realized she had an artistic talent at age 90. Her chalk art picture "Groundhog Season" won first place in the regional art competition sponsored by AOPHA, the Advocate of Not-For-Profit Services for Older Ohioans; in Toledo. She advanced to the state competition in Columbus and was named tops in Ohio.

Her funeral service will be Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Church of Christ, Heartland Hospice or the Chiara Unit at St. Francis Home.
