Brinkman
March 10, 1934 – March 7, 2017
Ned E. Brinkman, 82, of Tiffin, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, March 7, 2017 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
He was born on March 10, 1934, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Clarence E. and Arlene M. (Gurney) Brinkman. On August 16, 1954, he married Joan Fulton, his high school sweetheart. They were married 63 years and had a wonderful life.
Survivors include his wife Joan of Tiffin; brother, James G. Shertzer of Tiffin; son, Brad Brinkman of Milwaukee, WI; daughter, Jane L. (David) Rouse of Milwaukee, WI; five grandchildren, James and William Brinkman and Ryan, Emily and Natalie Rouse; and one great grandchild, Jameson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, William Shertzer; daughter-in-law, Kyong Cha Kim; and sister-in-law, Patricia Sue Shertzer.
Ned graduated in 1952 from Tiffin Columbian High School and attended Bowling Green State University and Tiffin University. He volunteered for the draft and served in the United States Army from September 28, 1954 to July 9, 1956. After serving in the Army, Ned was employed by the family business, Tiffin Lawn Equipment. Ned then worked at Jacobson Mfg. in Wisconsin for 21 years where he was the vice president of International Sales, traveling the world. In 1994, he retired and moved back to Tiffin. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Tiffin Amvets Post 48, Tiffin Elks Lodge #94 and Mohawk Country Club. Ned was also a 50-year plus member of the Masonic Lodge #77, the Seneca Chapter 42, the Clinton Council #47 and the deMolay #9 and also a member of the Zenobia Shrine. Ned volunteered his time at St. Paul United Methodist Church and he enjoyed golfing and excursions with his wife in their corvette.
His funeral service will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. Hannah Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The United Veterans Council will conduct military honors at the church prior to the Service and the Masonic will do services at 9:45 A.M.
Friends may visit with the family from 9-9:45 A.M. at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Children Hospital, 2211 North Oak Park Ave., Chicago, IL 60707-3392
