Norma Jean Schwochow, 73, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday morning, January 19, 2011, in the emergency room at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
She was born September 27, 1937, in rural Tiffin, to Anthony and Daisy 'Marie' (Hakes) Scherger. She married Eugene Ranker January 8, 1955, and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2001. She married Dale Schwochow February 22, 2003.
Survivors include her husband of 7 years, Dale of Tiffin; three daughters, Connie (David) Ehrenfried and Pat (Ken Blair) Burlile, both of Tiffin; and Cindy (Jim) Morrow of Brighton, CO; two step-sons, Dale (Laurie) Schwochow Jr. and Daryl (Kim) Schwochow, both of Tiffin; two step-daughters, Jane (Rick) Frederick of Tiffin and Jody (Dave Zebrowski) Rice of Huron; a sister, Dorothy Reiter: five sisters-in-law, Pat Winkler, Dollie Ragle and Leona Scherger, all of Tiffin, Nancy (Martin) Coffman of Bloomville; and Doris Scherger of Fostoria; a brother-in-law, Gerry (Sue) Ranker of Tiffin; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death along with her parents, and first husband Gene; is a son, Roy Ranker, in 1979; and infant son, David Schwochow in 1966; three brothers, Charles, Norbert, Ralph, Ray Scherger, and two sisters, Helen Burd and Rosemary Baker.
Norma was a volunteer and member at Trinity United Church of Christ and Trinity TwoSomes. She cared for elderly people and worked at Riverfront Manor. She enjoyed playing bingo, mushroom hunting, traveling the United States, playing cards and was a member and secretary for T-Squares.
Her funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 22, 2011, at Trinity United Church of Christ with Rev. Dr. Louis Dorsch officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, January 21, 2011, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. Additional visitation is 9:30-10:30, Saturday at Trinity United Church of Christ.
