O. Calvin "Cal" Aurand, 85, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, February 12, 2012 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.
On April 19, 1926, in Sycamore, Ohio, he was born to Herbert and Rosetta (Laipply) Aurand. On September 3, 1950, he married Vivian L. Kneirim. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2010.
Survivors include son, Kenneth (Edwinna) Aurand, Sr. of Bucyrus, Ohio; daughter, Carolyn (Robert) Weisenauer of Tiffin, Ohio; sister, Marilyn (Carl) Farrow of Mansfield, Ohio; ten grandchildren, Tammy (Robert) Abbott, Tonya Daughenbaugh, Kimberly (Rudy) Thomas, Jessica (Randy) Bashore, Addie Daughenbaugh, Jennifer (Jeff) Young, Bradley (Rachel) Aurand, Rosetta Brown, Kenneth (Crystal) Aurand, Jr. and Angie (Caleb) Rice; 27 great grandchildren; and two great great grandson's.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; six brothers, Wallace, George, Clarence, Alvin, Robert "Dale" and Wayne; two sisters, Ethel Dickerson and Thelma Jump.
Calvin was in the United States Army during World War II , along with four of his brothers, and they all came home. He worked as a laborer at American Standard retiring in 1984 after forty years. He was a crossing guard for Tiffin City Schools. Calvin enjoyed sports; especially cheering for all the Ohio teams. He coached softball and played slow pitch. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards and horseshoes.
His funeral service will be Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 12:00 noon at New Beginnings Assembly of God, with Rev. Rex King officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family from 10-12:00 noon on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at New Beginnings Assembly of God, Tiffin.
Memorial contributions may be made to Elmwood at the Shawhan or New Beginnings Assembly of God.
