Odis 'Toby' Cornett, 80, of rural Tiffin, died Tuesday morning, March 31, 2009, in the Emergency Room at Bellevue Hospital.

March 25, 1929, he was born in Crown, KY., to Charlie and Ella (Tyree) Cornett. December 25, 1950, he married Norma Halcomb.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Norma, a son, Tim (Rosie) Cornett of Melmore, two daughters, Jennifer Davis of Tiffin, and Denise (Jeremy) Welch of Lexington, two brothers, Trubie (Dora) Cornett and Shelby (Anna) Cornett, both of Whitesburg, KY., five grandchildren, Tim, Joe, Chris, Mindy and Jason and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents are a brother, Oscar Cornett and a sister, Edith Tyree.

Toby was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Green Springs. He moved to Tiffin in 1949, and retired in 1980 from Clyde Whirlpool after 28 years. He was known as a handy man, fixing everything, and loved his tractor, vegetable gardening, bluegrass and gospel music, playing banjo and guitar and being outdoors. He loved coffee every morning with his friends at the Pit Stop.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Tyree officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
