Obituary

Olive F. Ruehle, 91, of Tiffin, passed away Friday morning, June 13, 2014 at Desert Lakes apartments in Phoenix Arizona. Her 4 children were with her when she passed away.

She was born on April 11, 1923, in Sandusky, Ohio, to Edward Windau and Florence E. (Collins) Windau. She lived in Bloomville before becoming a lifelong Tiffin resident.

She married her high school sweetheart, Gene E. Ruehle on September 4, 1943 and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past September.

Survivors include her 2 sons, Dick (Dianna) Ruehle of Tiffin and Jerry Ruehle of Phoenix, AZ; 2 daughters, Jacquelyn S. Repp of Anchorage, Alaska and Patricia J. Bastani, formerly of South Africa, now living in Anchorage; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her beloved husband Gene who passed away March 1; her parents; brothers, George Windau and Norm Windau of Sandusky, Ohio; James Windau of Phoenix, Arizona; and sisters, Winnie Lease of Bloomville, Ohio and Mary Esther Will of Sandusky, Ohio.

Olive worked for Shaklee Nutritional Products for 35 years. She worked in the office at LaSalles Department store and for the Tiffin Chamber of Commerce. She was a past president of the Emblem Club. She also volunteered at St. Mary's for the funeral luncheons and was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
Her greatest accomplishment was being a wife to Gene and raising her 4 children. She and gene were able to see all 4 children graduate from a university. She always said she enjoyed being a mother. She loved cooking for the family and enjoyed the holidays with the family. She never missed a graduation or marriage for her kids and grandkids even traveling to South Africa for her grandkids marriages. Olive enjoyed a good game of Bridge and playing Pinochle with the family. She used her favorite numbers 1 and 4 at the horse track when attending with Gene. She golfed at Green Hills Golf course in Clyde, Ohio with the Ladies League on Tuesday during the summer for over 30 years. Olive was also one of the top bowlers in Tiffin at one time, winning the state doubles title and having the highest bowling average for women. Olive also enjoyed traveling to Phoenix with Gene and living there for three months each winter for 28 years.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday June 23, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.


Friends may visit with the family from 2-5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 1:30.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, Arizona or a charity of the donor's choice.
