Opal "Faye" (Fruth) Sims, 72, of Tiffin, OH died, Saturday morning, July 9, 2011 at Autumnwood Care Center in Tiffin.
On July 15, 1939, she was born in Wadsowrth, to Oliver F. & Ellen (Ady) Fruth, Sr. On April 7, 1962, she married Lamoyne Sims. They later divorced and he is deceased.
Survivors include two sons; Anthony G. "Tony" (Jennifer Blake) Sims of Bellevue, and Scott Oliver (Laurie) Sims of Tiffin; two brothers, Ray (Peggy) Fruth and Max Fruth, both of Tiffin; grandchildren, Bridgette (Sims) and Timothy Ray Breeding, Skyla Faye (Sims) and Selvin Omar Elsworth Hudson, Anthony Oliver Sims, Ean Sims and Shelbie Olivia Sims; grandchildren, Stephen & Meghan Benner, 5 great grandchildren, Tristan Josiah and Temperance Anya Breeding, Hailey Marie and Amara Rylee Hudson, Harley Nickol Breeding.
Preceding her in death along with her parents are two brothers, Oliver "Frank" Fruth, Sr., and Owen Fruth, and a stepson, Ira L. Sims.
Faye was a 1957 graduate of Scipio Republic High School and a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. She worked at SS Kresge's and Friedrich Air Co. and Furnace Supplies for a number of years. She organized veteran's military burial services for the Seneca County Veteran's Council for many years until 2009 when her health failed. She was an honorary member of the United Veteran's Council. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary #733, VFW Auxiliary #2858, DAV Auxiliary and a life member of AmVets Auxiliary #48. Faye enjoyed reading, puzzles, watching NASCAR, bowling in her younger years, and proudly helping the United Veteran's Council organize military funeral rites. Her greatest joy and pleasure were her beautiful grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Her funeral Service will be Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:30 am at Greenlawn Cemetery with Rev. Nathan Howe officiating.
Friends may visit on Saturday from 10-11:00 am at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH (419)447-2424.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Danny Thomas Children's Hospital.
