Obituary

Patrick C. "Pat" Shelt, 64, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 2, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.

On August 17, 1949 in Tiffin, he was born to Donald and Bernadine (Koby) Shelt. He married Susan E. Schultz on June 26, 1982 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife Sue of 32 years; a daughter, Gina Danielle (Alvin) Beikman of East Liberty, OH; two sons, Robert Charles (Cheryl) Shelt stationed in Japan with the USAF; Jeremy Michael (Heather) Shelt of Mt. Victory, OH; two brothers, Larry (Jane) Shelt of Port Clinton, OH; Fred (Barb) Shelt of Tiffin, OH; four sisters, Judy (Vern) Beard of Tiffin, OH; Sue (Pete) Emmons of Marysville, OH; Barb (Michael) Lutz of Raleigh, NC; Maureen (Wayne) Foster of Tiffin, OH; and 12 wonderful grandchildren who were his pals.

Pat was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1968 graduate of Tiffin Calvert, and attended The Ohio State University. He worked at National Machinery for 13 years in Fabrication, Assembly and Service and at Tiffin Loader Crane (Palfinger) in Research and Development for over 10 years. He enjoyed camping, bicycling around Ohio, fishing, traveling, and trips to Europe, riding his "motorcycle" and was a dedicated Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, and Ohio State Buckeye fan. But most of all, he loved his family, was there for them and passed his great outlook on life to many. He will be remembered for the hottest Hungarian Goulash, his smile and jokes, and life lessons he gave to his children.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Monday, August 4, 2014 from 2-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. A Wake Service will begin at 8:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Community Hospice Care.
