Obituary

Paul C. Schlachter, 89, of Tiffin, died Thursday morning, February 4, 2010, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Fostoria.

On March 7, 1920, he was born in Carey, to Albert and Eva (Pahl) Schlachter. On July 28, 1951, he married Regina I. Filliater in St. Wendelin Catholic Church. She preceded him in death in 1990.

Survivors include a son, Carl (Tina) Schlachter of New Riegel, two daughters, Paula 'Susie' (Kurt) Dunn of Tiffin, and Becky (Tom) Kreais of Fostoria, a sister, Martha Rose (Simon) Schalk of New Riegel, and Raymond (Lois) Pahl of New Riegel, who was raised as a brother, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death along with his parents and wife is a sister, Delores Tiell.

Paul was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, New Riegel American Legion Post 354 and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He retired as a truck driver at Standard Oil after 30 years. He loved to travel, farm, collect antique cars and was a member of Pioneer Auto Club and Tiffin T Squares with his wife. He enjoyed spending time with and helping his family as well as others. He spent his winters in Texas. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII in Japan.


His Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 PM, Monday, February 8, 2010, at All Saints Parish, St. Nicholas Chapel, Frenchtown, with Rev. Randy Giesige officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Frenchtown, with Military Graveside services conducted by New Riegel American Legion Post 354.

Friends may visit with the family 2-9 PM, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, 419-447-2424. New Riegel American Legion services will be 8:00 PM.

Memorial contributions can be made to Day Break of Fostoria, Special Care Unit at Good Shepherd Home, SCAT or a charity of the donor's choice.
