Obituary

Paul E. Steinmetz, 74, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday morning, June 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.
On September 7, 1941 in Tiffin, he was born to Albert L. and Loretta F. (Lorentz) Steinmetz. He married Nancy Ann Walter November 23, 1963 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of 52 years, his children, Jamie L. (Marco) Dull of Mass City, MI; Amie S. Gahris of Sandusky; Kevin P. Steinmetz of Tiffin; a brother Harold Steinmetz and a sister, Helen (William) Michelli both of Tiffin; six grandchildren, Melissa Young, Beth Young, Cody Dull, Kayla Corwin, Nychole Gahris, Miranda Steinmetz, and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Donald Steinmetz a sister, Mary Alice Houck and his Bischon, Scotty.
Paul was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a 1959 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School and a 1961 graduate of Tiffin University. His career began as a deputy for the Seneca County Sheriff's Department for five years, Tiffin Police Department for 23 years, an EMT for over 10 years, Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station as security for 18 years and later as security at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin for over five years. He volunteered for Community Hospice Care, was a board member of the Salvation Army and a graduate of the Citizen's Academy. He was a member of the Tiffin Moose Lodge and the Tiffin Lion's Club, where he was a Melvin Jones recipient, very active and loyal member of the Harold J. Fraley FOP Lodge #128 for many years, where he devoted countless hours to community service, Retired Fraternal order of Police and vice president of the Police and Fire Retirees of Ohio.
Paul was loved by all, his smile and excitement for life will be remembered, always.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 2-8 PM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 419-447-2424.The Tiffin Lion's Club service will begin at 7:15 PM and followed by the Fraternal Order of Police Service at 7:30 PM and a Wake beginning at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Community Hospice Care or the Fraternal Order of Police.
