Obituary

Paul Eugene "Wally" Borer, 59, of Tiffin died at his residence, Sunday afternoon, January 6, 2008.

On December 21, 1948 in Fremont, he was born to Rudolph A. and Edna (Schrader) Borer. He married Carmella Schirack October 15, 1976.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Carmella, daughters, Tammy (Harold) Minton of Marblehead; Lisa Zeigler of Tiffin, brother, Ralph (Sheri) Borer of Bettsville; sister, Faye Jenkins of Woodbridge, VA, 5 grandchildren, Jessica (James) Besser, Stacey (Derrick) Rhodes, Lindsay Zeigler, Krista Ziegler, Jarrett Minton, 7 great grandchildren, Keygan, Jacie, Mackenzie, Lilly, Aubreyonna, Javin, and Donivyn, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graduate of Bettsville High School, Paul attended Tiffin University and retired from Atlas Crankshaft in Fostoria as a production supervisor in 2002 after 30 years. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he did 5 campaigns in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division. While in the U.S. Army, he received the Bronze Star, Vietnam Air Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Paul and his wife attended Christ's Church at Tiffin and he was a Life Member and past Commander for 3 years of VFW Post 2858 in Tiffin, Amvets Post 48 of Tiffin, and American Legion Post 733 of Bettsville. He was also former secretary/treasurer of Westgate Condos for 15 years.

Paul enjoyed Sprint Car racing at the area tracks and was an Earnhart fan, no matter what the first name was. He followed local drivers like Bill Krayleck, car #71 in 305 division, David Harrison #10 and Daryl Harrison #44 antique Race Car Division. Wally was a generous and loving father and grandfather, known as Paw-Paw, he always followed their sports and activities. He will be sadly missed.

A Memorial service will be 12:00 - Noon, Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Christ's Church at Tiffin with Minister Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the United Veteran's Council.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Christ's Church at Tiffin from 10:00-12:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, Amvets Post 48 or VFW Post 2858.
