Pearl G. Hemminger, 92, of Fostoria, passed away Friday morning, March 25, 2011 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center.
On October 24, 1918 in Blair County, PA, she was born to Clarence Roy and Mary Edna (Garber) Long. She married Erlin R. Hemminger on September 15, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Survivors include her sons, Clarence "Sonny" (Dolores) Hemminger of New Riegel; Paul "Butch" Hemminger of Fostoria; daughter in law, Annie Hemminger of New Riegel; sister, Dorothy Mack of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Richard Hemminger and an infant son, Ronald Hemminger; brothers, George, Roy, John, and Wilbert Long.
Pearl attended Old Fort High School and worked as an assembler for Ford Motor Co. in Fostoria, retiring in 1972 after 22 years. She was a member of Moose Lodge 154 in Fostoria, American Legion Auxiliary Post 354 in New Riegel, Eagles #430 in Fostoria, lifetime member of DAV in Findlay and was active in the Allen Eirey Senior Center. Pearl enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 10:00 am at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Rising Sun.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, American Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
