Peter J. Culichia, of Tiffin passed away early Saturday morning, July 23, 2016 at St. Francis Home.
He was born on November 4, 1927 to Giacomo "Jake" and Carmella "Nellie" (Santoro) Culichia. On June 27, 1953, he married Geraldine L. Schauder. Pete and Gerry celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this year.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine of Tiffin; son, Samuel Culichia of E. Liberty; daughter, Lisa Culichia of Columbus; granddaughter, Samantha Culichia of Hilliard; brother, Charles (Catherine) Culichia of Tiffin; and two sisters, Joanna (Joseph) Buckley of Tiffin and Antoinette "Toni" Schostek of Tiffin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law James Schostek.
Peter served in the United States Navy. After attending typesetting school in Indiana Pete and Gerry resided in Tiffin and Sandusky before moving to Columbus. Pete began his career as a typesetter then became a sales representative. Originally from Tiffin, Pete and Gerry lived in Columbus for nearly 60 years before moving permanently back to Tiffin in 2014. He was a very talented woodcrafter, sculptor and all-around handyman. Pete and Gerry built a cabin at Lake Mohawk and resided there part-time for many years.
His Memorial Mass will be at Noon on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
