Philip D. Boyer, 88, of Tiffin, passed away on Monday evening, June 24, 2013 at his residence. He was born on January 3, 1925 in Denver, CO, to Norton C. and Elizabeth (Linhart) Boyer. On June 19, 1948, he married Ruth Luidhardt.
Survivors include his cat, Mollie; wife, Ruth of 65 years; son, David A. (Susan Hemminger) Boyer of Tiffin; daughter, Susan K. Distel, of Tiffin; 2 grandchildren, Lee Anne DuMond of Reynoldsburg and Michael R. Distel of Tiffin; and 3 great grandchildren, Zane, Noah and Kallan, all of Reynoldsburg.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and 2 brothers, Norton R. and Eugene R. Boyer.
Philip graduated from Tiffin Calvert High School in 1943 and served as First Lieutenant in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 in Europe. After returning from the service he attended Heidelberg College and was a Tiffin City police officer. Philip retired after 30 years from Commercial Bank where he was the branch manager and was a member of the American Legion Post #169, Moose Lodge #846, Legion of the Moose and a life member of the AmVets Post #48. He enjoyed eating out, yard work, boating and spending time at the lake at their cottage and volunteering at the Tiffin Moose.
Private family services were held at Greenlawn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, Humane Society of Seneca County or a charity of the donor's choice.
