Obituary

Ray E. Kopp, Sr., 89, of Tiffin passed away Sunday afternoon, October 31, 2010 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

On May 4, 1921 in Tiffin, he was born to Fred C. and Ruby Belle (Creek) Kopp. He married Dorothy L. Tiell on December 13, 1944 in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include 8 sons, Raymond E. (Carolyn) Kopp Jr. of Tiffin; James A. (Denise) Kopp of Marblehead; Steven R. Kopp of Tiffin; Mark A. (Beverly) Kopp of Republic; Richard D. (Amy) Kopp of Tiffin; Timothy P. Kopp of Tiffin; Thomas W. Kopp of New Orleans, LA; John B. Kopp of Tiffin; daughters, Kathleen A. (Ray) Runion of Bloomville; Peg E. (Stephen) Sheridan of Tiffin; Laura A. (Gary) Chapman of Tiffin; 34 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy L. Kopp in 2002, brother, Fred Kopp and sisters, Velma Thompson and Evelyn Rousch.

Ray was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and worked at National Machinery as a Boiler Operator and Night Watchman for over 37 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the National Machinery Quarter Century Club, Am Vets Post 48, life member of DAV 34 and VFW Post 2858. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 training dogs and discharged as Sergeant in 1945 serving time in Panama. Ray enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and trapping.

A funeral mass will be Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St. (419-447-2424).

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care or the Seneca County Commission on Aging.
