Obituary

Raymond C. Doran, 89, of Tiffin, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at Ruffing Family Care Center in Tiffin.

On August 1, 1920 in Tiffin he was born to Thomas C. and Frances E. (Brosius) Doran. He married Marjorie Feintuch on January 26, 1952.

Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Thomas (Bettye) Doran of Gilbert, AZ; Patrick Joseph (Kimberly) Doran of Tiffin; daughter, Sara A. (Alan) Sheidler of Moline, IL; and 5 grandchildren, Deborah Doran of Korea; Rebecca Doran and Erin Doran of San Francisco; Jenna Doran of Tiffin; and a grandson, Eric Sheidler of Moline, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marjorie of 25 years, brothers, Robert E. and Paul A. Doran.

Raymond was a 1938 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School and graduated from Tiffin University in 1940 with a degree in accounting. He attended Old Trinity Episcopal Church and was a life long farmer in Seneca County and worked at National Machinery. Raymond enjoyed traveling worldwide, having a special interest in the Middle East. He made many trips to the Middle East attempting to trace modern Freemasonry to ancient Egypt. He enjoyed learning about the Holy Land and participated in the Elderhostel learning adventures program in the United States and Mexico. Raymond was a founding and honorary member of the Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Department and volunteered his skills preparing income taxes for V.I.T.A. for many years and was a lifetime member of the Seneca County Genealogical Association.
He was a member of Tiffin Masonic Lodge #77, Free and Accepted Masons; Seneca Chapter #42, R.A.M.; and Clinton Council #47 where he had been a Past Illustrious Master, R.S.M.; Demolay Commandery #9, K.T.; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of The Valley of Toledo, and a member of the Zenobia Shrine, Toledo. He was a Road Runner, transporting crippled children to Shriners Hospital for many years.

A Funeral service will be Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with Rev. David Culp officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home, with Masonic Services at 10:45.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

The family of Raymond would like their dad to be remembered as a person that had a strong will to live and was a fighter right to the end. He was an inspiration to many.

The family would like to thank the staff of Seneca Dialysis and Ruffing Family Care Center for their compassion and care of their dad. May he rest in peace.
