Obituary

Retha Arleen Gurney, 83, of Birchaven Village in Findlay, formerly of Tiffin, died Friday evening, March 28, 2008, in the emergency room at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.

On November 30, 1924, she was born in Findlay, to Alfred L. and Edna (Brown) Frantz. On July 16, 1945, she married Wade K. Gurney.

Survivors include two daughters, Jacquelyn (Ronald) Flood of Phoenix, AZ, Alice Patterson of Tiffin, a brother, Robert Frantz of Clyde, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her parents are her husband, Wade in 1977, a son, Ronald Gurney in May, 1994, five brothers, William, Richard Ned, Donald and Jack Frantz, and four sisters, Kathleen Dew, Donna Hagerty, Mary Frantz and Susie Crockett.

Retha was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School and a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church until she moved to Findlay 8 years ago. She worked over 37 years at General Electric, retiring in 1983, and was a member of GEWOTS. She enjoyed bowling, needle work, reading and belonged to the Overseas Irish Club. She adored her children, grandkids, great-grandkids and loved to show them off.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home with Rev. Donna Van Trees officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
