Richard J. Hoover, 86 of Tiffin, Maumee and most recently of Englewood, FL; passed away Saturday afternoon, December 31, 2011 at Emeritus at River Oaks assisted Living in Englewood.
On May 7, 1925 in Seneca County, he was born to Franklin and Estella (Kimmet) Hoover. He married Emma Zoeller on November 23, 1944 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Emma of Englewood, FL; sons, Larry (Brenda) Hoover of Venice, FL; Gary (Anne) Hoover of Ponte Vedra, FL; John (Cyndy) Hoover of Englewood, FL: daughters, Carol Ritchie of Tiffin, OH; Donna (Don) Bare of Tehra, NE; Sharon Schleter of Westerville, OH; Debra (Mark) Theis of Pt. Charlotte, FL; Mary Ann (Bob) Michel of Perrysburg, OH; a brother, Ronald (Pattie) Hoover of Bascom, OH; sister, Rose Mary Magers of Tiffin, OH; 21 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Kenneth, Donald, and Charles Hoover; sister, Norma Jean Haefer and 2 infant sisters.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Richard was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, retired from National Machinery in 1986 after 34 years and a member of their Quarter Century Club. Richard and Emma lived part time in Florida the past 25 years, making many friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Frank Murd officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 6, 2012 from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake service will be at 8:00 P.M. The National Machinery Quarter Century Club will meet in body at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 9:45-10:45 A.M. at the funeral home prior to mass.
