Richard "Rich" Edward Kotnik, 55, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, October 13, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born on January 24, 1960, in Tiffin, Ohio to Robert R. and Esther M. (Brickner) Kotnik. He married Kathy Barrett and they later divorced.
He is survived by his son, Richard "Richie" Alexander Kotnik of Toledo; daughters, Cara Sue (Christopher) Colleran of Orange County, NY, Alexa Patricia Coss of Toledo and Jacklyn Renay Coss of Detroit; granddaughter, Harper Colleran; five brothers, Allan R. (Lori) Kotnik of Fostoria, Robert T. Kotnik of Bascom, David J. (Karen) Kotnik of Tiffin, Douglas P. Kotnik of Dayton and Donald P. (Mary) Kotnik of North Canton; and sister, Michelle A. (James) Arbogast of Curtice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law, Judy Kotnik.
Rich graduated in 1978 from St. Francis High School, Tiffin and in 1990 from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. In 1979, Rich received his pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He lived in Sylvania, Ohio for over 25 years and worked at Ohio Building Restoration, Inc. for over 25 years. Rich enjoyed golfing, cooking, was very particular about his lawn, loved his dog, Chloe and was a Green Bay Packer's fan; attending opening day for many years with his family. He was very devoted to his children and grandchildren.
There will be a casual open house on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 4-7:00 P.M. at Richard's house, 4552 Longfellow Road, Sylvania, Ohio 43560.
His funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Bascom.
Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 Noon-4:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Service on Monday at the funeral home.
