June 21, 1939 – December 13, 2015
Richard M. Romig, 76, of Tiffin and resided at Heritage Apartments in Findlay, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Blanchard Valley Hospice Center.
He was born on June 21, 1939, in Tiffin, Ohio, to Marion and Priscilla (Dell) Romig. He married Darlene Bordner in 1957 and they divorced in 1976. He then married Phyllis J. Schaade on September 25, 1981 and she preceded him in death in April.
Survivors include four children, Barb Detray of Michigan, Brenda (Terry) Shuff of Sycamore, Betty (Charles) Feasel of Tiffin, and Donald Romig of Tiffin; four stepchildren, Theresa (Kevin) Eaves of Findlay, Kevin (Kerry) Schaade of Huber Heights, Aggie (Rick) Tighe of Hillard, and Cathy (John) Miller of Warsaw, Indiana; two brothers, Thomas (Joye) Romig of Tiffin and David (Ruth) Romig of El Paso, TX; two sisters, Pat (Norman) Steyer of Fostoria and Paula Gillen of Wellsville; 21 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Romig; and infant daughter, Bonnie Romig.
Richard graduated in 1957 from Tiffin Calvert High School and worked at St. Francis Convent, Tiffin State Hospital, Mercy Tiffin Hospital and owned a fish store, Tropical Haven, in Tiffin. His favorite place to eat was Jolly Rogers in Port Clinton with his brother Tom. He was a loving father and grandfather and would always help anyone in need. He enjoyed puzzles, cards, bike riding, swimming and taking care of his lawn and roses. Richard and his wife Phyllis loved their parish, St. Mary Catholic Church and their priests, Father Gary and Father Kishore.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Kishore Kottana officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to Blanchard Valley Bridge Hospice.
