Richard J. Wagner, 90, of Tiffin, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday evening, February 11, 2016.
He was born on September 23, 1925, in Leipsic, Ohio to John E. and Helen G. (Barger) Wagner. On February 3, 1950, in St. Mary Catholic Church, he married Lois L. Shuff.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Tiffin; three daughters, Deborah (Michael) Welter of Tiffin, Pamela (Alan) Seiler of Temperance, MI and Cynthia (Michael) Cohen of Davie, Florida; three grandchildren, Daniel (Candace) Welter of Frederick, MD, Jessica Nicole Russell of Orlando, FL and Richard J. Seiler of Temperance, MI; three great grandchildren, Andrew Welter of Frederick, MD, Caitlyn Welter of Frederick, MD and Jayela Russell of Orlando, FL; 2 sisters, Eileen (Dewey) DeTray of McCutchenville and Catherine (Charles) Culichia of Tiffin; and sister-in-law, Norma Wagner of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and John Wagner; and sister, Mary L. Wagner.
Richard graduated in 1946 from Tiffin Calvert High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II from December 27, 1943 to April 11, 1946. He retired from Kleppers of Tiffin and was a life member and past president of the Eagles Aerie #402, Tiffin and life member of the V.F.W. #2858. Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing, dartball and woodworking. Family was very important to Richard.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, February 15, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 2-4:00 P.M. and 6-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian Wake Service will begin at 1:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, St. Mary Catholic Church or to Stein Hospice.
